Our Mission

Passion and expertise for high-quality EVOO

Working together and taking action is what has defined our history. We are convinced that working together will continue to be an added value for the future. This becomes essential, especially when our goal is to focus on quality. We can only bring a good and healthy product to consumers’ tables if we manage to involve everyone throughout the supply chain.

For these reasons, PANEOLIO COOPERATIVA AGRICOLA and its affiliate PANEOLIO OIL PRESS SOCIETA’ A RESPONSABILITA’ LIMITATA – IMPRESA SOCIALE, both belonging to the same group, have decided to launch the ALTA QUALITA’ PANEOLIO Supply Chain Project, structured in accordance with the EUROPEAN STANDARDS UNI ISO 22000:2018 and UNI EN ISO 22005:2008 for FOOD SAFETY AND TRACEABILITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS.

The project involves the following entities:

  • OLIVE GROWERS;
  • Raw material TRANSPORTERS (OLIVES);
  • OLIVE OIL MILL;
  • SOFTWARE AND AUTOMATION EXPERT COMPANIES;
  • RETAIL AND ORGANIZED DISTRIBUTION COMPANIES.
  • Supervisory Bodies
  • Universities and research institutes
  • Packaging Companies

The olive growers and raw material transporters are tasked with ensuring that healthy, undamaged olives arrive at the mill. This is a critical factor, as only an oil with high initial quality can preserve its characteristics throughout the chain. These entities are fully involved in the project through the signing of a Supply Chain Agreement.

All processing technologies (the oil mill) are managed directly by PANEOLIO COOPERATIVA AGRICOLA, which thus controls the entire extraction process—another crucial phase for extracting the very best substances and aromas found in the olives.

Storage and packaging, carried out under controlled temperatures and with the aid of nitrogen, are managed entirely through fully automated IT systems and procedures directly overseen by PANEOLIO OIL PRESS SOCIETA’ A RESPONSABILITA’ LIMITATA – IMPRESA SOCIALE, which also handles distribution.

Specifically regarding distribution, PANEOLIO OIL PRESS has developed a Climate-Controlled Modular Static Thermal Box, “Oil Thermo-Box”, for the transportation and Long-Term Storage of Extra Virgin Olive Oil. This device is important for logistics and distribution companies wishing to market high-quality oils, as it prevents the product from being exposed to excessive heat and cold.

More generally, during the storage, packaging, transport, and warehousing phases within logistics and distribution companies, what we must do to preserve the oil’s chemical-physical and sensory quality characteristics is to shelter the product from the so-called pro-oxidant factors: light, excessive heat and cold, and contact with air.

All supply chain actors commit to the “quality” project by signing the Supply Chain Agreement, which outlines specific tasks and objectives for each participant. The ALTA QUALITA’ PANEOLIO Supply Chain involves the control and management of over one hundred parameters, which can be verified directly by clients and consumers. In fact, the supply chain itself is certified in accordance with the UNI EN ISO 22005:2008 standard, the international methodological reference guide for implementing a traceability system in the agri-food chain.

The certification was requested from SUOLO E SALUTE S.R.L. Unipersonale, located at Via Cairoli 1, 40121 Bologna (BO), which is also capable of issuing the JAS (Japan Agricultural Standards) certification required by Japan.

In short: the production of healthy, undamaged olives, cutting-edge extraction technologies, and every possible measure to protect the oil from pro-oxidant factors are the cornerstones of high quality. Yet, to fully benefit from the properties of EVOO, something is still missing: the promotion of conscious consumption. For this fundamental reason, thanks to collaborations with the Department of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Sciences at the University of Perugia, we are developing scientific evidence, information, and recommendations, making them freely accessible.
